		<description>Excellent post Matt!  There are so many factors that drive up the cost of funding a SaaS company, and I think you've done an excellent job of highlighting them.  

This is a great post that really dovetails quite nicely with Will Price's analysis (I'd love to hear his thoughts on your post).  

Aside from the larger upfront expenditures needed to fund SaaS companies, there are also many other factors (enough for another post even), with regards to operating a SaaS company, that drive up the size of investments. One of those, which you touched upon briefly, is the need to find development resources with the appropriate skill sets.  Even more critical, is finding leadership for your development teams that have experience, and are able to manage those resources, within the unique nature of SaaS development.  (Multiple monthly deployments, 1 problem effects X,000 clients, etc)</description>
