You may know us here at SaaSBlogs.com for our patented analyses (read: diatribes) on the major SaaS players and the SaaS industry in general over the past several months. Indeed, some posts have sparked great discussions and even a few heated debates.

Most important thing in a SaaS platform (if it is itself SaaS) is go-to-market support for ISVs. Salesforce.com has that and will now have AppStore by the end of 2007. WebEx and Microsoft are also getting into the game, IBM is going to be more active too.

You make a very good point about the go-to-market support for ISVs. The greatest technological achievement in a platform isn’t worth very much if ISVs can’t use it to realize (then maximize) value through go-to-market enablement.

However, it should also be said that a platform must first enable ISVs to GET-to-market. That is, it needs to solve the technological hurdles involved w/ SaaS deployment.

Ultimately, it needs to take as much of the added burden off the vendor as possible - in both technological implementation and market strategy aspects - until, dare I say, the vendor doesn’t even realize that SaaS takes extra work.

We’ve taken a ground-up approach to the comprehensive platform concept. I think you’ll like what we’re up to, so stay tuned. And again, thanks for the comment.
